One Eyed

As the Home & Away season hasn't actually started, there's nothing really to report on so i thought i'd just dig out an issue that is bound to re-occur this year, here's a blog i posted just before the grand final last year:

"You're supporting the Swans ?!?! You are not a true Western Australian, you un-Patriotic @$#%!"

Yeah, I've been copping that the last two days for sure. Doesn't worry me though, its water off a ducks back.

I support Fremantle, and, to use the old cliché, "anybody playing the E-Girls."

This weekend it isn't Western Australia vs the rest of Australia, it's the West Coast Eagles vs Sydney.

It isn't State of Origin football it's the Australian Football League.

16 individual teams based all around Australia vying to be the one team that holds the Premiership cup aloft on the last Saturday in September. Its every team for itself.

What if there were two WA teams in the PURA cup?
What if there were two WA teams in the NBL?
What if there were two WA teams in the A-League?

Carlton supporters wouldn't want Collingwood to win a grand final.

Sydney supporters wouldn't want Melbourne to win a grand final.

Port Adelaide supporters would rather kill their first born than see the Crows win a grand final.

Similarly but not quite to that extent I don't want the Wiggles to win a grand final.

You wouldn't want to see your arch-rival co-worker pip you for that promotion at work would you?Or one of your mates hit on the girl/guy you've had your eye on?

If I support both Freo and the Wet Toast I'd be a fence sitter.

If I support only Freo then I'm not a patriotic West Australian.

If I support those 22 walking SGIO / HUNGRY JACKS ads for the grand final I'm jumping on the bandwagon.

Damned if I do, damned if I don't.

At the end of the day Freo aren't in the Grand Final, thats kinda obvious (so for you Wet Toast fans that are going to reply to this saying that the Freo aren't in the grand final, no shit Sherlock have your stupid gold star), I don't really care who's going to win.

So if you're an E-girls supporter, don't claim Freo as you're second team, we hate you. Don't jump on our bandwagon and we won't jump on yours.

Good luck to both teams this weekend. It's going to be a pearler.

C'arn Sydney you bloody rippperrr!

(To those who didn't actually see the 2006 Grand Final, Sydney won their second consecutive Flag, well at least thats what i remember.)
